Single Apartment

The architectural team Minas Kosmidis Architects was tasked with designing the interior of an apartment located within the One Athens complex in central Athens. The space, spanning 170 square meters, is designed to meet the needs of a four-member family.

The urban character of the complex, the clean lines that define Doxiadis’s architecture, and the minimalist approach of the building’s shell directly influenced the interior design of the apartment.

The given floor plan was managed in a way that small modifications enhanced the functionality of the spaces. Opposite the apartment’s entrance, a wall with perforated sections was designed to separate the living area while also subtly guiding the visitor further into the apartment. The living room, seamlessly connected to the dining area, is positioned in front of the main opening that leads to the balcony, allowing natural sunlight to flood the space throughout the day. Slightly more secluded is the kitchen, which is separated from the dining area by sliding doors and a custom-made bar that visually defines the two spaces.

A hallway with curved ends outlines the path to the bedrooms, which are designed with a more introspective approach at the rear of the layout.

An eclectic aesthetic is the primary design direction of the project. While keeping the structural shell neutral, the white wall surfaces serve as a backdrop for uniquely designed furniture and artworks from the owner’s personal collection.

The goal was for the design to respond to the multifaceted personalities of the inhabitants while simultaneously becoming an integral part of the original architectural expression of this iconic building.
