“Future boutique hotel” as a project has been an attempt, seeking to present an alternative design and aesthetic approach, which could be applied to a boutique hotel in the near future. It is a conceptual pavilion that has been designed and implemented within the framework of the international hotel equipment exhibition “HOTELIA” and regarding its organization it has been a collaborative effort between “Helexpo” and “interiorsfromgreece.com”. According to the briefing of the project we were asked to design a new concept for a spacious suite of approximately 50 square meters located in an upscale city boutique hotel. The main aspects that differentiate a boutique hotel from a strictly commercial hotel – probably member of a multinational hotel chain, are the facts that it is autonomous, its dimensions are relatively reduced; it is luxurious and most importantly, it is characterized by a unique concept which defies the rules and pays attention to details.

Regarding the specific project, the basic idea has been based on the aesthetics of the James Bond movies. Consequently, the concept was determined by a sense of mystery, luxury, seduction, as well as by the use of hotel automation and the latest technological tricks. Moreover, a principal goal of this endeavor has been the introduction of new technologies, such as automations regarding the lighting and signage of hotel rooms. The composition of the floor plan of the suite is defined by an unconventional logic, where the separation of sub-spaces doesn’t follow the traditional rules. Our studio tried to showcase the direction towards which, we consider that city boutique hotels of the future should aim to. Our proposal is primarily intended for entrepreneurs who wish to renovate or open a new luxurious city hotel, of particular architectural character, which will become a destination and will not just cover the basic needs of the modern traveler but it will be one of the main motive in order to visit the city in which it is located. With the use of materials such as velvet fabrics, marble, walnut wood, bronze, the accompanying music, video projection and special air fresheners, we attempted to stimulate all of the visitors’ senses, in favor of establishing the framework for a holistic travel experience where the hotel is transformed into a pole of diverse functions and feelings.
